What is an eSIM?
It is a digital SIM built into the phone. Instead of inserting a small card, your carrier activates your line with a QR code or from an app.
Pros and cons
Pros: it cannot get lost or damaged, if your phone is stolen nobody can take the SIM out, and you can have several lines on the same phone.
Cons: to switch phones you have to transfer it (it is almost always done from the iPhone itself), and it depends on your carrier offering it.
iPhones that are eSIM only
The iPhone Air and the iPhone Duo have no physical SIM slot. For the iPhone 17 we have an eSIM version and versions with a physical SIM; for the iPhone 16, a version with a physical SIM.
Before buying an eSIM iPhone
Call or message your carrier and ask if they can move your line to eSIM. The major carriers in Colombia offer it, but the process is different with each one. If you have questions, message us and we will help you choose the right version.
Frequently asked questions
Is eSIM or a physical SIM better?
Both work equally well. The eSIM is more secure and convenient; the physical SIM is easier to move from one phone to another.
Can I use eSIM in Colombia?
Yes, but confirm with your carrier that they can activate your line on eSIM before buying.
